OK all you Mule Skinners and Donkey Dudes.....here's your chance to strut your stuff on the XTreme Trail Course with Special obstacles for extra points! Ride and Drive...bring your own cart and harness, packing equipment will be provided....and TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE....in other words it's a trail race!!! $100 Entry Fee with Jackpot Payback...It will be FAST......it will be FUN....it will be FURIOUS.....it will be FABulous!!!!! Limited Entries.
Entry Fee and Process:
$100 per Mule or Donkey and Rider/Handler. You may ride, drive, or lead your animal in this Event.
Each rider may compete with more than one Mule or Donkey and must submit a separate application and fee for each entry. Send your application and fee to Ride The West, P.O. Box 48782, Spokane, WA 99228-1782.
Application Process:
Riders must be at least 18 year of age. There will be NO Divisons for gender or age, you either ride in the Mule Division or the Donkey Division. Riders may apply by downloading the application form via www.muleranch.com or at the Ride The West site www.ridethewest.net or call Steve at (602)-999-6853 and we can fax or mail the application to you.
Prizes:
Cash & Prizes will be awarded to the top four competitors in each Open Division. based on a 60% Jackpot Payback, depending on the number of entries.
Details:
All animals must have a current coggins test and vet check, and be free of any illness or infectious disease. You will need to sign off that you are in compliance with this on our waiver form. Upon entering the Expo, please check in at the Ticket Gate. Your packet with additional information, stalling information, an emergency contact card, and show tickets will be waiting for you there.
All contestants can join the judges on foot for a walk through the course 45 minutes prior to the Event. At that time, you can ask any questions about the course or procedures. DO NOT go onto the course at anytime prior to the event or you will be disqualified. All questions about the Trail Race can be directed to Steve Edwards at (602)-999-6853.
The Course:
The Course may include any or all of the following: saddling, ground tying, leading a pack animal, packing, driving, trailer loading, backing into patterns, pole bending, log jams, gates, crossing water, live animals, roping, long line driving and other hazards that might be encountered when trail riding. This event will take you out of your comfort zone and will test your skills. Riders may find dangerous areas within the course just as you find dangers out on the trail in real life. Spectators will find the competition to be entertaining and excditing as they watch each contestant challenge themselves and their mule/donkey.
Scoring:
This will be a timed event. Scoring will be based on communication and performance of the mule or donkey and rider. Each obstacle will be worth from zero to 10 points. Mule/Donkey and rider will be required to complete each obastacle in a specific order and within a specified time in order to receive points. If an obstacle is not completed within that given time frame or is attempted in the wrong order, the contestant will be flagged and required to move on to the next obstacle. The winner wil be determined by the overall highest score. A tie will be determined by fastest time.
